When Mark Kutner decided to create Akuity, his purpose was to empower companies involved in social matter to participate to make the world better. And since, it has always been.
Kutner is Principal and Chief Executive Officer of Akuity Social Enterprises, Inc. Characterized by his creativity, drive and problem solving skills, Kutner oversees the strategic direction of this New York-based management consulting firm specialized in the health care and human services sectors.
For the past 15 years, Kutner has held a range of management and executive positions in the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors encompassing business development, operations, research & development, program evaluation, and strategic planning roles. Kutner is perhaps best known for his business development expertise, having secured very significant funding from a wide range of government, corporate and private foundation sources on behalf of clients supporting a wide range of business lines including housing, capital construction, workforce development, health care, and social services.
Kutner has served on the Board of Directors of the New York State Rehabilitation Association (NYSRA) and was appointed to the faculty of the Columbia University School of Social Work, where he has served as both an Instructor in Social Enterprise Administration and a Social Work Field Placement Supervisor/Educational Coordinator. Kutner currently serves on the Strategic Council of Columbia University’s Global Mental Health Program, Board of Directors of the Midwood Development Corporation, a NYC housing and human services non-profit, and the Advisory Board of Shining Services Worldwide, a NYC based organization addressing the specialized needs of female veterans. Kutner holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University, a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from New York University, Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, and a Master of Science in Social Work, Social Enterprise Administration degree from Columbia University; Kutner is now in the process of completing requirements for a Ph.D. in Social Welfare.
Additionally, Kutner serves as Chief Operating Officer of a private corporation providing housing and supports to nearly 1,000 military veterans residing in New York and New Jersey.
